TP-Link is driving hard to compete with Netgear to be a leading global provider of consumer and business networking products. Today, TP-Link is announcing the expansion of its Omada Business Networking product line with two new feature-rich Wi-Fi 6 access points at incredibly competitive prices.

The Omada EAP610-Outdoor is TP-Link’s first-ever AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 exterior access point and is launching alongside TP-Link’s latest high-performance Omada EAP670, a ceiling-mounted AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 access point with 160MHz channels for improved data throughput.

Both the new Omada access points have advanced features as standard that provide peak performance including mesh technology, seamless roaming, band steering and airtime fairness. Both units sell for under $150 and are aimed directly at small and medium business users that Netgear is currently serving with its range of WAX access points.

The new Omada EAP670 builds upon TP-Link’s existing Wi-Fi 6 ceiling mount access points with a 160MHz channel providing double the data at peak transmission than the usual 80MHz rate used by standard Wi-Fi 6 access points. The EAP670 provides simultaneous speeds of 574 Mbps on 2.4GHz and 4,804Mbps on 5GHz for a total Wi-Fi speed of 5,378 Mbps.

A 2.5G port makes the EAP670 ideal for adding to a multi-gigabit network and unlocks the full speed potential of Wi-Fi 6. The unit can be powered over Ethernet by using PoE (802.3at). This makes it easier to deploy in parts of a building where there’s no power outlet. For those not using PoE, TP-Link bundles a 12V DC adapter in the price.

The new Omada EAP610-Outdoor is a wireless access point that’s fully weatherproofed to IP67. It can withstand operating temperatures from -22°F to 158 °F and is protected against 6KV of lightning protection. These protective ratings mean the EAP610-Outdoor can be located almost anywhere outside and so is ideal for use in sports clubs, open-air pools, outdoor restaurants etc.

The EAP610-Outdoor offers fast 1.8 Gbps Wi-Fi 6 speeds and long-range transmission up to a radius of 800ft. A dual-antenna design and high-power amplifier along with enhanced security features safeguard user networks. Powered by 48V/0.5A Passive PoE (PoE adapter included) or 802.3af PoE, the EAP610-Outdoor has a simple mounting design that makes it easy and convenient to deploy virtually anywhere. Thanks to built-in mesh technology, the EAP610-Outdoor can provide complete coverage of very large outdoor areas simply by adding extra units.

Omada’s Software-Defined Networking (SDN) platform integrates network devices – including access points, switches and gateways – providing a centralized place for managing the entire network from the cloud. TP-Link’s Omada makes it possible to build a highly scalable network controlled by a single interface. Seamless wireless and wired connections are provided which makes the system ideal for use in hospitality, education, retail, offices and many more business settings.

Pricing & Availability: The EAP610-Outdoor is priced at $129.99 and will be available from mid-June 2022. The EAP670 is priced at $149.99 and will be available from May 16, 2022. Both access points will be available for purchase via Amazon.
