If you love great hi-fi equipment, Munich is the place you need to be this week because that’s where the High End Show for great audio gear is taking place. One of the star attractions at this year’s show is the launch on the Focal and Naim stand where the two companies have joined forces to launch the Aria K2 926 and Naim Uniti Star AshGrey system to celebrate a decade of the two companies working together.

This spectacular-looking audio system brings together the superb new K2 version of Focal’s bestselling Aria 926 floorstanding speakers with Naim’s award-winning Uniti Star streaming amplifier. This is a multi-talented audio system that can stream music services, play and rip CDs, as well as transform the audio feed from a TV.

The impressive French-made Focal speakers and British-built Naim audio system are finished in a stunning Ash Grey colorway. The system also includes a pair of Naim NAC A5 speaker cables.

The versatile Naim Uniti Star offers great audio performance and solid build quality, coupled with ease of use, thanks to the Naim smartphone app and a touch screen that makes using this mini system so fun to use. The Uniti Star is a classic piece of British audio design that should provide years of entertainment.

As well as playing CDs, the Uniti Star can ‘rip’ discs and store them on an external drive, enabling access to an entire music collection without having to take those silver discs off the shelf. The Uniti Star also supports all the main music-streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL and Qobuz. Streaming music from a smartphone or tablet is easy to play thanks to the inclusion of Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in and Bluetooth playback.

Naim’s Uniti Star can also work with other music systems around the home via AirPlay and Chromecast, creating a multi-room audio system. And thanks to an HDMI input, the Uniti Star can boost the audio feed from a TV, making movies sound even better. There’s also a phono connection for a turntable so LPs can be played.

Usually only available in classic Naim black, this special edition of the Uniti Star has an anodized aluminum casing with a unique ash-grey hue. Meanwhile, the Aria K2 926 speakers have an ash hue to match. The French speaker specialist’s iconic K2 sandwich cone – which was first launched back in the 1980s – is central to the contemporary design of these speakers and they look and sound superb.

The K2 926 is a three-way floorstanding design with Focal’s 25mm TNF aluminum and magnesium inverted dome tweeter. The midrange is produced by a 6.5in (16.5 cm) K2 driver, while the bass end of the business is taken care of by a couple of 6.5in (16.5cm) bass drivers. The dynamic, high-impact performance of the speakers is boosted by Focal’s multi-port Powerflow design, ultra-rigid cabinet construction and solid aluminum-alloy base.

The Aria K2 926 speakers are finished off with a leather-effect baffle and a luxury Ash Grey finish that’s usually reserved for Focal’s flagship Utopia Evo speakers.

Pricing & Availability: If this smart Focal Naim Ash Grey combo appeals, it’s available globally now with a suggested retail price of $8999 / £6799 / €7899.
