Networking specialist Linksys has announced the launch of two new Wi-Fi 6 mesh systems aimed at delivering peak wireless performance to home users, especially remote workers, content streamers and multi-user gamers. The two new systems are the Linksys Hydra 6 and Linksys Atlas 6 and they are the company’s latest entry-level dual-band products and the brand’s most affordable models to date.

The Linksys Atlas 6 is the latest whole-home mesh system in the Linksys portfolio of products. It offers speed and performance at an affordable price and is ideal for hybrid work, online gaming as well as 4K UHD streaming. It’s a dual-band router designed to work best with broadband services of up to a gigabit. Each of the system’s nodes features three 1GbE Ethernet ports for connecting wired devices to wireless networks and it also offers access to 160MHz channels for faster wireless connections.

Available in three configurations, the Linksys Atlas 6 can be bought as a single unit that can support up to 25 client devices and cover an area of around 2,000 square feet. The twin-pack option supports up to 50 devices and covers up to 4,000 square feet, while the three-node version can handle up to 75 wireless devices over an area of 6,000 square feet.

Moving up a notch in terms of performance, the Linksys Hydra 6 offers high-speed wireless data for up to 25 devices over 2,000 square feet. This dual-band wireless router delivers a dramatically faster, stronger and more reliable wireless connection than many competitor routers and Linksys claims it’s perfect for smooth 4K UHD streaming, video conferencing, online gaming and more.

The Linksys Hydra works best with internet service plans up to a gigabit. It provides 160 MHz channels for fast wireless connections and has four 1GbE Ethernet ports to connect wired devices like gaming consoles, TVs and more to a Wi-Fi network.

Linksys claims that both new products are quick to set up and easy to manage thanks to the Linksys smartphone app which makes it easy to create a network that can be controlled and monitored from anywhere. Linksys Intelligent Mesh Technology dynamically optimizes data speeds and is sufficiently intelligent to make the best use of the wireless bands and channels to reduce congestion, latency and buffering.

Once installed, the Linksys systems can protect the user’s network using automatic software updates, securing the network from the latest cyber threats. There are also parental controls onboard and a separate guest network. The systems can be easily expanded simply by adding extra nodes when needed to provide stronger connections or for handling even more client devices. The Linksys range of mesh solutions is built around Qualcomm’s Immersive Home 214 Platform for enhanced connectivity across the mesh.

Pricing & Availability: The Linksys Hydra 6 Router will be available in the UK in Q3 2022 and will cost $179.99 / £349.99 from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com. The Linksys Atlas 6 Mesh Solution will also start shipping in Q3 2022.
