Insta360 has announced its latest action camera, the One RS 1-inch 360 Edition.

Its name is lengthy, but tells you what this camera is about. The Insta360 One RS 1-inch 360 Edition is a 360-degree camera with large 1-inch sensors.

It is also built around the same brains as the Insta360 One RS, but you’d never guess that to look at it.

The One RS 1-inch 360 Edition looks like a 360-degree camera with a handle built into its base. This base part actually holds a pull out central module that is home to the preview screen.

It looks quite unlike anything Insta360 has made yet, despite being part of an established modular camera family.

This also means owners of the Insta360 One RS can save a little off the One RS 1-inch 360 Edition’s asking price. It costs $800 all-in, but is available without the central display unit for $650.

Either way, it costs significantly more than the GoPro Max or the Insta360 One X2. However, the camera sensors are much larger. The GoPro Max’s sensors are 1/2.3-inch chips, not even close in size to the 1-inch sensors of the Insta360 model.

It’s able to shoot at “6K” (5888x 2944 pixels) resolution at 30 frames per second. And at 50fps at 3040 x 1520 pixel resolution.

The camera mod was “co-engineered” with Leica, but tech camera legend team-ups often have more to do with marketing clout than anything else.

Larger sensors should make the Insta360 One RS 1-inch 360 Edition capable of capturing better low-light video than most action cameras. The camera is available to order now.
