iPhone 14 leaks are beginning to snowball as their release edges closer, and now we have our best look yet at what the full range will look like.

Longtime Apple leaker Sonny Dickson is behind the latest scoop, releasing a hands-on video with dummy models of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. And it highlights the biggest external changes coming to the range.

Let’s break them down.

1. Goodbye Notch

Perhaps the most controversial change in the iPhone 14 lineup is Apple’s decision to not just scrap the notch, but to replace it with a dual punch-hole ‘i’ design exclusive to Pro models. This has led some iPhone fans to declare the design a step backwards, but Apple is seemingly committed to it with the change coming to the whole range in 2023.

It’s a striking visual shift and the biggest iPhone design change since the iPhone X was introduced back in 2017.

2. Supersize Cameras

The second head-turning change the dummy units highlight is the size of the new iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max rear cameras. Apple has been hotly tipped to upgrade Pro models to 48MP primary sensors which are up to 35% larger than the 12MP unit on all iPhone 13 models and Dickson’s video shows the dramatic consequences this has on the new camera bump. Lined up alongside the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max (which stick with the 12MP sensor) they look gigantic.

Could this be the first year where there’s a dramatic difference in photo quality between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models?

3. iPhone 14 Maxed

Last we come to the all-new member of the range: the iPhone 14 Max, which replaces the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 Mini. Dickson’s dummy units show it is indeed a huge device that is every bit as big as the iPhone 14 Pro Max and both are tipped to sport 6.7-inch displays.

Big screen sizes are increasingly popular and I suspect this alone will make the iPhone 14 Max a hit, but it does mean fans of small phones are now forced to stretch to the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 / iPhone 14 Pro (now the smallest phones in the range). They will also have to pay more since the iPhone 13 Mini was the entry-level option, while the iPhone 14 Max will sit above the iPhone 14.

Throw in the claim that iPhones will switch to USB-C in 2023 (port changes typically have a big impact on the second-hand value of older models) and customers face a much bigger upgrade decision than normal and not a lot of time to think about it.
